Special service districts play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of many small towns and counties in the United States. Up to this point, a few bad apples, with inefficient management, have given everyone a bad name and drawn a shadow over all special service districts. Whether you provide services such as:
The need for proper and effective management and government representation is vital. At UASD, we represent districts in all of the above services and more! We provide small towns and county special districts a voice in the legislature. Alone, your voice has little chance of being heard, let alone making a difference in the world of big government. We can help you make a change for good, learn about new legislation that may impact your district and train every district member on crucial best management practices. Let’s talk about some of the training opportunities we offer our members.
Training: The Key to Successful Management
Through comprehensive training, arranged and provided for UASD members, you will successfully fulfill Utah state law requirements for your special service district. All appointed board members, officials and managers are required to annually complete training on the Open Meetings Act and show proof of certification. Our goal is to provide the education and training necessary to uphold the law and keep your district running efficiently.
Our training team provide opportunities for growth and success. We also provide the same comprehensive training at our yearly UASD conference each year. It can be difficult for untrained, small districts to comply with the latest legislation pertaining to their districts. With UASD membership, we monitor upcoming legislation and give you the information you need. Without this information, you run the risk of forfeiting any tax funds the entity or district is entitled to. Without full compliance, agencies face being disbanded. This would leave your district without those crucial services needed to fully function.
As an appointed official, you have the duty and responsibility to provide your constituents with the services promised. With more and more regulation, don’t be left in the dark. Training is designed to help governing boards increase their understanding of their role, functions and responsibilities. Become a member of UASD today and add your voice to the many! Together, we can make a change and support local governments. Call (801) 614-0405 today.
