The Role of UASD in Advocacy and How You Can Get Involved

Advocacy involves the process of influencing public policy and resource allocation decisions within political, economic, and social systems and institutions. A core part of the Utah Association of Special Districts’ (UASD) mission includes making sure that our voices are heard at the state legislature.

At UASD, we are committed to proactively promoting the interests of special districts across Utah. This entails working with lawmakers to shape, monitor, and advocate for beneficial policies. Our advocacy efforts strive to increase the power of each district’s voices in legislative affairs, ensuring that all our impacts are substantial, meaningful, and lead to optimized services within our communities.

We have been diligent in our advocacy work; an excellent example is our involvement in the annual legislative sessions. Our team provides information on legislative activities affecting special districts, closely tracking each bill. 2. Be Active: Attend your local government meetings. Engage with the state legislature. Build relationships with your elected officials. The more active you are, the more influence you have.
3. Share Your Experience: Your real-world examples can have a significant impact. They deliver a clear understanding of challenges and successes at the district level.
