Here are a few more fun facts sure to float your boat:

• Near Moab, excavators in 1975 found the world’s largest raptor, now known as the Utahraptor. It’s kind of a catchy name for a dinosaur that measured 23 ft. long and sported 15-in. toenails. Did you know a paleontologist offered to work “Jurassic Park” producer Steven Spielberg into the species’ name in return for fieldwork funding? Instead of Utahraptor spielbergi, it was named U. ostrommaysorum.
• Reportedly, it is illegal in Utah to stand in the street and play the trombone to advertise an auction. Oh, and don’t walk around Salt Lake City with your violin in a paper bag. It could put you on the wrong side of the law.
• On a more encouraging note, did you know 400 special service districts and local districts are constantly on the job making sure Utahns have a high quality of life? They’re at work behind the scenes, providing services animal control, parks and recreation and more. The Utah Association of Special Districts stands with them, giving them a voice as state legislators contemplate issues that might affect their operations.
