Building trust through positive engagement

Whew, that’s a mouthful!

Even more challenging is delivering on what our theme for this year’s UASD convention promises, building trust in our local and special services districts by positively engaging the communities we serve and the legislators regulating our operations. And a good place to start, as you’ll see in our agenda, is at the Davis Conference Center in Layton.

Need a little more convincing? Check out these five reasons you should join us Nov. 1-3 in Layton:

• As you know, we’re always in a state of flux when it comes to state regulation of our operation. Our general session on Thursday, Nov. 2, will address the new statutory requirements from the 2017 Legislation Session, the New Travel/Per Diem regulations and Best Practices from the Legislative Auditor General. We’ll put you in the know!
• And we won’t leave you hanging. Our agenda for Wednesday, Nov. 1, is filled with the training sessions you’ll need to meet the current requirements for newly elected and appointed district board members and to more efficiently navigate the upcoming Utah Stage Legislature General Session.
• Just as important, through networking with your peers from around the state, you have a chance to learn and share what works for you in building trust and positively engaging others in your work. We have a stellar line-up of speakers as well, from our keynote address to the breakout sessions Nov. 2. Don’t forget, too, our exhibitions by UASD’s associate members. And you won’t want to miss our closer on Friday, Nov. 3, where we’ll look ahead to the 2018 Legislative Package.
• It’s also a chance to celebrate all we’re doing right. The festivities on Nov. 2 include recognizing this year’s Distinguished Board Member and Distinguished Manager.
• On top of that, we’re going to have some fun, too. We’ll end Nov. 1 with a Trust Tailgate party and open the next day with a special Partner’s Program that includes a breakfast and creating Christmas crafts. Make sure you stick around that night for our Dueling Pianos.
