Back in session

We’re back is session!

Interim session, that is, as the Utah State Legislature begins piecing together the legislation, we’ll see in the fall. And as our mission states, the Utah Association of Special Districts exists to promote the proper and efficient operation of all special districts in the state of Utah.

And we heartily encourage you to join us, taking the opportunity to acquaint your legislators with your mission. Together, the inroads we build today will serve us well – and give them the information they need – when bills are introduced at the coming general sessions.

Here are ways you can take part:

• Scan through the UASD’s schedule of interim sessions and agendas for topics addressed. Watch for the legislators who represent your citizens and district, and for issues that will affect your special or local district’s operation.
• Meet with the legislators, letting them know more about your district and what services it provides. Open yourself to any questions and concerns that they might have. And it’s a good time to share your own thoughts on pending issues.
• Visit the UASD website for the legislative resources that will help you through this process. It’s a benefit of membership; you will be prompted to create a user name and password for access.
• You’re not a member? That’s easy to remedy! Check out the benefits we offer, from training and networking to support on the legislative front.

At UASD, we are on the job, representing our member districts and positively influencing legislature that will best serve our fellow Utahns. We are always open to your calls and emails, and we can’t encourage you enough to join us at these interim sessions and forge a relationship with your lawmakers.
