We’re off and running with the Utah State Legislature general session, monitoring the House and Senate bills that could affect our local and special service districts. And while we pride ourselves on being our member districts’ voice at the Capitol, we also offer several ways you can stay connected with this year’s proceedings.
Begin with a visit to our website, where you can familiarize yourself with what is on the table in 2019. Then make time to engage in the issues that pertain to your operations. You have options. And reach out to us at UASD with any questions or concerns that come up. The session continues through midnight Thursday, March 14 – hopefully not ending with last-year’s clock-racing finale! – so you have plenty of time to jump in.
Review the bills and determine which demand your attention. You will find a list on our website for those already made public. Then make an effort to join our UASD Legislative Committee’s weekly meeting, held at noon every Tuesday at the East (Senate) Building through the session. There, we will share any new bills and progress on others introduced.
• Meet with the legislators representing your district, telling them about what you do for your fellow Utahns. Also let them know you are available for any questions they might have as they consider pending legislation. Time is precious in session with the underway so be concise. They will appreciate your consideration.
• If you have forgotten your user name and password to your UASD account, contact us now to get back in the loop. It will open you to more resources during the session and throughout the year. Not a member? Hop aboard and immediately begin enjoying the benefits of unifying with your fellow districts.
Finally, stay in touch through our social media for the latest in what’s happening at the Capitol. We are working hard for you – and our fellow Utahns – and you can depend on us to let you know how new legislation will affect your district. We are there for you, at the general session and all year long.
